The written exam tests a broad range of fields, including anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, microbiology, pharmacology, radiology, statistics, clinical endodontics and related disciplines.

The case history exam requires submission of a variety of cases from the endodontist’s own practice. The cases must demonstrate exceptional knowledge, skills and expertise in the full scope of endodontics.

Effective October 19, 2022 The American Board of Endodontics has updated the policy for internationally trained endodontists to align with the American Dental Association’s “Requirements for Recognition of National Certifying Boards for Dental Specialists”.
