Dr. William T. Johnson Named President-Elect of the AAE

JohnsonWilliamWilliam T. Johnson, D.D.S., M.S., was named president-elect of the American Association of Endodontists during the Association’s recent Annual Session in San Diego, Calif.

Dr. Johnson, the Richard E. Walton Professor and chair of the department of endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City, has had a long record of service to the AAE. He previously served as vice president of the Board and has been a Board liaison to and member of various AAE committees including Public and Professional Affairs, Research and Scientific Affairs, Educational Affairs, Annual Session Planning and Continuing Education.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, Dr. Johnson has served in several capacities on its Board of Directors, including two terms each as both secretary and president. He is also active in other professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association and the International Association for Dental Research. He is a Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists.

A prolific author and lecturer on endodontic topics, Dr. Johnson authored the textbook, Color Atlas of Endodontics, and serves as a reviewer for several publications, including the Journal of Endodontics, Special Care Dentistry, and Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontics.

Following two years of active duty with the U.S. Army, Dr. Johnson served in the 294th Medical Detachment of the Iowa Army National Guard from 1977 to 1996, and holds the rank of brigadier general (retired). In 1993, Dr. Johnson was awarded the "A" Proficiency Designator, the highest award for professional achievement given by the Office of the Surgeon General, United States Army.

Dr. Johnson is a resident of Iowa City, Iowa, and received his D.D.S., M.S. and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
