John T. McSpadden, D.D.S., received the Ralph F. Sommer Award from the American Association of Endodontists during the Association’s recent Annual Session in San Antonio, Texas. The award recognizes a principal author of a publication of specific significance to the science and art of endodontology.
An international author, lecturer and prolific inventor, Dr. McSpadden received the AAE President’s Award in 2010, an honor given to just six people previously in the history of the Association. Dr. McSpadden, well-known to the dental community, greatly advanced the dental profession by introducing nickel-titanium endodontic files and many other endodontic instruments. In 2006, he published the award winning textbook, Mastering Endodontic Instrumentation. Although Dr. McSpadden is retired from practice and lives in Lookout Mountain, Tenn., he still conducts research and continues to write for the advancement of endodontics.
Dr. McSpadden received his B.S and his D.D.S. from the University of Tennessee in 1963 and 1967 respectively.
