The AAE has several membership categories to accomodate the variety of professionals in the endodontic field. Choose the appropriate application from the list below; requirements and fees are provided.

Active Membership
Active membership is available to a practicing endodontist who has successfully completed an advanced specialty education program in endodontics approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
Application Requirements
- Verification of membership in the American Dental Association or, if not residing in the United States, membership in the recognized endodontic specialty association; or if none, then the equivalent national dental association of the country of current residence
- A completed Active Member Application (PDF File, 40 KB)
- Payment of an application fee and annual dues (U.S. Dollars)

International Membership
International membership is available to a practicing endodontist in a country outside of the United States who has successfully completed the requirements defined by their government or recognized endodontic specialty association.

Educator Membership
Educator membership is available to individuals who are eligible for AAE Active membership and are full-time educators. An Educator’s full-time status is defined by the educator’s university/institution. Faculty members in a predoctoral department or an advanced specialty education program in endodontics accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or an institution that has a reciprocal agreement with the Commission are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
- Verification of membership in the American Dental Association or, if not residing in the United States, membership in the recognized endodontic specialty association; or, if none, then the equivalent national dental association of the country of current residence
- A completed Educator Member Application (PDF File, 116 KB)
- Signature of your dean or administrative head (on application)
- Payment of an application fee and annual dues (U.S. Dollars)

Associate Membership
Associate membership is available to a practicing dentist who has an interest in endodontics but is not educationally qualified as an endodontist; a practicing dentist outside the United States (non-U.S. citizen) who is engaged in the full-time teaching of endodontics or the limited practice of endodontics or a dentist whose primary concern and activity is in the area of education, administration or research related to endodontics.
Application Requirements
- Verification of membership in the American Dental Association or, if not residing in the United States, membership in the recognized endodontic specialty association; or, if none, then the equivalent national dental association of the country of current residence (this requirement is not applicable to nondentists)
- A completed Associate Member Application (PDF File, 40 KB)

Resident Membership
Resident membership is available to individuals enrolled in an advanced specialty education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association; a foreign graduate who has completed an advanced specialty education program in endodontics but is enrolled in an advanced placement program in a U.S. dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation to obtain a license to practice dentistry/endodontics, or an endodontist who has completed dental and endodontic training in an accredited U.S. dental school and who is enrolled in a full-time advanced education program in a health-related field.
Application Requirements
- A completed Resident Member Application (PDF File, 36 KB) endorsed by the director of the advanced specialty education program in endodontics, advanced placement program or other health-related program
- Payment of annual dues (U.S. Dollars)

The AAE membership dues cycle is based on the AAE fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Individuals submitting applications for Resident membership through April will receive membership benefits for the current fiscal year. Applications submitted in May or June will be valid for membership beginning July 1 of the next fiscal year, and the Journal subscription will start in July of that year.

Predoctoral Student Membership
Predoctoral Student membership is available to individuals with an interest in endodontics who are enrolled in a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association and not yet enrolled in an endodontic advanced specialty education program.

The AAE membership dues cycle is based on the AAE fiscal year (July 1– June 30). Individuals submitting applications for Predoctoral Student membership through April will receive membership benefits for the current fiscal year. Applications submitted in May or June will be valid for membership beginning July 1 of the next fiscal year, and the Journal subscription will start in July of that year.

International Resident
International Resident membership is available to a dentist enrolled full-time in an advanced specialty education program in endodontics as defined by their country of residence.
Application Requirements
- A completed International Resident Member Application (PDF File, 146 KB) endorsed by the director of the advanced specialty education program in endodontics
- Submission of a signed letter from the university admissions representative on official university letterhead confirming student status, written in English.
- Submission of a signed letter by the director of the advanced specialty education program in endodontics on official university letterhead confirming enrollment, written in English.
- Payment of annual dues (U.S. Dollars)

Auxiliary membership is available to dental staff employed by an endodontist or by a member of the Association.
