Membership Categories

The AAE has several membership categories to accommodate the variety of professionals in the endodontic field. Which AAE membership will best fit you? Find out below:


Active Membership

Active membership is available to a practicing endodontist who has successfully completed an advanced specialty education program in endodontics approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.

International Membership

International membership is available to a practicing endodontist in a country outside of the United States who has successfully completed the requirements defined by their government or recognized endodontic specialty association.

Educator Membership

Educator membership is available to individuals who are eligible for AAE Active membership and are full-time educators. An Educator’s full-time status is defined by the educator’s university/institution. Faculty members in a predoctoral department or an advanced specialty education program in endodontics accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or an institution that has a reciprocal agreement with the Commission are eligible to apply.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is available to a practicing dentist who has an interest in endodontics but is not educationally qualified as an endodontist; a practicing dentist outside the United States (non-U.S. citizen) who is engaged in the full-time teaching of endodontics or the limited practice of endodontics or a dentist whose primary concern and activity is in the area of education, administration or research related to endodontics.

Student Membership

Student membership is available to individuals enrolled in an advanced specialty education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association; a foreign graduate who has completed an advanced specialty education program in endodontics but is enrolled in an advanced placement program in a U.S. dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation to obtain a license to practice dentistry/endodontics, or an endodontist who has completed dental and endodontic training in an accredited U.S. dental school and who is enrolled in a full-time advanced education program in a health-related field.

Predoctoral Student Membership

Predoctoral Student membership is available to individuals with an interest in endodontics who are enrolled in a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association and not yet enrolled in an endodontic advanced specialty education program.

Auxiliary Membership

Auxiliary membership is available to dental staff employed by an endodontist or by a member of the Association.
