The following optional activities are being offered by the AAE in conjunction with the 2008 Fall Conference. Registration for each activity is limited and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to reserve the activity of your choice when registering. Tours are subject to cancellation if the minimum number of participants is not met.

Explore Chinatown
Thursday, November 6
1 – 5 p.m.
$85 per person (includes dim sum lunch)
Explore America's largest Chinatown, a city within a city, and one of San Francisco's best-loved destinations. The tour will begin at a fabulous Chinese restaurant, located in the heart of Chinatown, where a wonderful dim sum feast awaits! This walking tour provides a fascinating close-up look at the unique culture, cuisine and architecture that makes up Chinatown. The cultural and historical heritage will be emphasized as you are guided through a labyrinth array of exotic food markets, colorful shops, temples, museums, restaurants and Chinese business institutions.

California Wine Country
Friday, November 7

$107 per person (includes tour, lunch and tasting at two wineries)
The Sonoma Valley features some of the best wines produced in California. This tour will include tastings at the following locations: Viansa Winery, which is located on a hilltop above the Sonoma Valley. The Tuscan-inspired architecture and landscaping of this unique winery enhances a lovely experience. A stop will also be made to Cline Cellars, a historic property that was once the site of a Miwok Village and the first camp of the Sonoma Mission. The tasting room is located in a 1850s-era farmhouse.

Registered spouses and companions are invited to attend an enjoyable welcome event designed for guests to meet and socialize in a relaxed setting.
Details of the event will be made available prior to the conference and included in the registration materials that are distributed on-site.

While in San Francisco, take time to navigate the Barbary Coast Trail walking tour and see first-hand the city’s famous historic sites. Travel back in time and learn about the historic occurrences that took place in Downtown, Union Square, Chinatown, Portsmouth Square, Jackson Square Historic District, Old Barbary Coast, Beat San Francisco, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower, Fishermans Wharf, San Francisco Martime Historical National Park, Ghirardelli Square and Nob Hill.
