Perform Root-End Closure Procedures
Session Description
Pulp necrosis in young, immature teeth can be difficult situations to manage. In most cases, it is very important to make every effort to preserve teeth in growing children since premature loss of teeth can have serious consequences on the total dental development. Treating teeth with pulp necrosis and open apexes can be done in a number of ways. Currently, the preferred method is using MTA as an apical plug. This lecture contains information on the various techniques recommended and extensive clinical illustrations on the procedures described.

Trauma Related Root Resorption
Session Description
One of the sequelae to traumatic dental injuries is root resorption. It can occur soon after injury and it can be delayed by many years. Recognizing and managing trauma related resorptions can save teeth that otherwise may be lost. This presentation addresses this dental problem, and is extensively illustrated with clinical cases.

Session Description
This presentation includes the latest information on the management of dental injuries. Particular emphasis is placed on pulp preservation in young teeth and long-term treatment planning.

Biography
Dr. Bakland has been involved in teaching, research and professional publications for over 30 years, as well as provided leadership to many professional organizations. Since 1976, he has been a full-time faculty member in the department of endodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where he currently serves as professor and chair. He has lectured extensively worldwide and authored or co-authored more than 60 publications. He is the co-editor of the fourth, fifth and sixth editions of Ingle's Endodontics, and the first and second editions of Traumatic Dental Injuries. He is an associate editor of Dental Traumatology.
As an active member of several organizations, he has served in many capacities such as secretary for the AAE Board of Directors, past president and past director of the American Board of Endodontics, founding member, past president and past director of the College of Diplomates of the ABE, and is the current executive director of the International Association of Dental Traumatology.
