The Board of Trustees consists of up to 17 voting members including nine Active or Life members, up to three trustees from the public sector, and four officers of the AAE. The President, President-Elect, Vice President, Immediate Past President and the AAE Executive Director serve ex officio.
The trustees are elected by the General Assembly. Members serve a three-year term and are eligible for a successive term. Public sector trustees serve for one year and are eligible for re-election to a maximum of five consecutive one-year terms (a total of six years).
