About Opportunity Grants
Opportunity grants are open to applicants whose requests fall outside the guidelines of the Foundation’s current grant-making programs.
Interested applicants must submit a one-page letter of intent. The letter should describe the purpose of the request, list the applicant’s credentials and state the amount of funding requested. The deadlines for letters of intent are August 1 and December 30 of each calendar year. Applications will be reviewed by the Foundation’s Executive Committee.
If the request fits the Foundation’s current priorities, applicants may be asked to submit a full proposal to the Board of Trustees. Applicants for grants must be AAE members, and applications are accepted in the spring and fall of each year.
Download guidelines and a cover sheet for submitting a full proposal here. The deadlines for full proposals are October 1 and February 1. Proposals are reviewed at the interim and annual meetings of the Foundation Board of Trustees. Applicants will be notified of their status following the meeting. On occasion, applicants may be invited to present their requests to the Board.
