CHICAGO — The American Association of Endodontists appointed five new members to its Board of Directors during the 2008 Annual Session, April 9 – 12, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Anthony T. Borgia, D.D.S. of Plymouth, Mass.; Sheldon R. Mann, D.D.S. of Sarasota, Fla.; Hank Schiffman, D.D.S. of New York, N.Y.; Joseph H. Schulz, D.D.S. of Oakland, Calif.; and Kenneth J. Zucker, D.D.S., M.S. of St. Paul, Minn., were elected.
Dr. Anthony T. Borgia represents AAE District I, comprised of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Virginia. An AAE member since 1980, he currently serves on the Association’s Governmental Affairs Committee. In addition to maintaining private practices in Plymouth and Sandwich, Mass., Dr. Borgia has held various leadership positions with the Cape Cod District Dental and Massachusetts Dental Societies. He also is an internationally renowned lecturer. Dr. Borgia earned his D.D.S. at Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1976, his certificate in endodontics from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1982, and his Master’s in Health Administration from Suffolk University in 2003.
Dr. Sheldon R. Mann represents AAE District III, comprised of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He has been a member since 1984, and is an active participant in the Florida Association of Endodontists, serving as president in 2002. He also is an avid lecturer and researcher with more than 20 presentations worldwide. Dr. Mann maintains a private practice in Sarasota, Fla. He received his D.D.S. from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980 and his certificate in endodontics from Wilford Hall Medical Center USAF/UTHSC in 1986. Dr. Mann was certified by the American Board of Endodontics in 1992.
Dr. Hank Schiffman represents AAE District II, which is comprised of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. A member of the Association since 1979, Dr. Schiffman is a practicing endodontist in Manhattan, and also has served on the Association’s Board of Directors since 2005 and as president of the New York State Association of Endodontists. Before entering private practice, Dr. Schiffman was a clinical assistant professor of endodontics at New York University from 1986-1991. He received his D.D.S. in 1975 from New York University and his certificate in endodontics in 1981 through a fellowship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York.
Dr. Joseph H. Schulz represents AAE District VII, which is comprised of California. He has been a member of the Association since 1972, and a leader within the California State Association of Endodontists since 1985. He served as president of the latter organization from 2002-2003. In addition to private practices in Oakland and Walnut Creek, Calif., he is an associate professor at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Dr. Schulz also is an accomplished author and lecturer, contributing to editions of the endodontic textbooks, Pathways of the Pulp and Decision Making in Dental Treatment Planning. He received his D.D.S. from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1972, and his certificate in endodontics from Harvard University School of Dental Medicine/Forsyth Research Center in 1974.
Dr. Kenneth J. Zucker represents AAE District VI, comprised of Alaska, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. He has been an Association member since 1981, and previously served as chair of the Continuing Education Committee from 2003-2005, and as a member of the Annual Session Planning Committee. He maintains private practices in St. Paul and Eagan, Minn. Additionally, Dr. Zucker is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Minnesota and an endodontic consultant for the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis. He received his D.D.S. from Georgetown University in 1974, and his M.S. in endodontics from the University of Minnesota in 1983.
