Clara M. Spatafore, D.D.S., M.S., Elected Secretary
CHICAGO — Dr. Clara M. Spatafore, of Sewickley, Pa., was re-elected secretary of the American Association of Endodontists during its 2007 Annual Session, held April 25 - 28 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Dr. Spatafore has been actively involved in the activities of the Association for a number of years, previously serving as secretary in 2004, District I director from 2003-2006, and participating in the work of various committees, including the Constitution and Bylaws, Scientific Advisory Board, Continuing Education, and Honors and Awards Committees. She also chaired the committee responsible for the AAE’s official position statement on dental implants.
In addition to her leadership in the AAE, Dr. Spatafore has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics since 1992. Her professional activity extends to several other dental organizations as well, including the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association and the West Pennsylvania Dental Association. She is a past president of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry Alumni Association and is a specialty board examiner for the North East Regional Boards.
Currently an assistant professor at Allegheny General Hospital, Dr. Spatafore also is a noted lecturer, presenting continuing education courses across the region and nationally. Additionally, she maintains a private practice in Sewickley and served in the United States Navy.
Dr. Spatafore received her D.D.S. degree in 1984 and M.S. in endodontics in 1989 from West Virginia University. Dr. Spatafore resides in Sewickley with her husband Philip Bartling. She has four children, Daniel, 20, Matthew, 17, Justina, 15, and Alyssa, 11.
The American Association of Endodontists, headquartered in Chicago, represents more than 6,900 members worldwide, including approximately 95 percent of all eligible endodontists in the United States.
