David E. Witherspoon, B.D.S., M.S., received the prestigious President's Award at AAE15. Bestowed only 10 times previously in AAE history, the award honors exceptional members who work behind the scenes to promote and advance the Association.
Dr. Witherspoon joined the AAE in 1994 when he was an endodontic resident at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. Since then, he has made numerous contributions to the AAE, most notably on the Annual Session Planning Committee. Dr. Witherspoon served as the annual meeting general chair in 2015, program chair in 2014, program vice chair in 2013 and in various roles on the committee from 2007-2010. In addition, he is a past member of the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee and current member of the Journal of Endodontics Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Witherspoon is in full-time private practice at North Texas Endodontic Associates in Plano, Texas.
"Dr. Witherspoon has been helping to further my education since he was a resident and I was an instructor at Baylor," said Dr. Robert S. Roda, 2014-2015 AAE president, who selected Dr. Witherspoon for the award. "He is smart, industrious, and has a unique way of looking at things that has made him very valuable to me and to the AAE."
