Collaborative Responsibilities and Activities
Advanced Programs in Clinical Endodontics Symposium is an opportunity for endodontic residents to organize and present an educational and social program that reflects their special interests. The event is hosted annually by an academic institution with a postgraduate endodontic program. The program rotates to a different institution each year.
APICES is a collaboration among the AAE, its Resident and New Practitioner Committee, the Resident Communications Network and the host institution. Although each group contributes to the program’s success, the major responsibility for organizing and planning belongs to the residents at the host institution.
To provide continuity from one year to the next, the AAE identifies the host institution and schedules the event. The Board of Directors and the Resident and New Practitioner Committee ratify those recommendations. The AAE also provides sponsorship, consultation, representation at the event, publicity and some staff assistance. The Resident and New Practitioner Committee and the Resident Communications Network assist with planning and promotion.
The host institution’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Negotiating and signing contractual agreements.
- Identifying the residents who will manage the program.
- Providing space (both sleeping and function rooms), food and beverage arrangements, and social activities for the participants.
- Planning educational and social content (with assistance from the Resident and New Practitioner Committee).
- Promoting the program (with assistance from the Resident Communications Network).
- Securing speakers and arranging their travel and housing.
|
- Developing and monitoring the budget.
- Collecting and managing fees and funds. Securing sponsorship.
- Organizing exhibitors.
- Writing and printing promotional material.
- Providing signage
- Staffing program activities such as registration, welcome committee, etc.
- Sharing expertise and information with the next host institution.
