Dr. Yehuda Benjamin, chair of the Department of Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, pursued a grant to address a unique need in his community.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>In the face of the humanitarian crisis stemming from the Ukrainian conflict, the Department of Endodontics at Nova has teamed up with with the Ukrainian Refugee Resettlement Project (URRP) volunteer network\u00a0 to provide endodontic care to Ukrainian refugees resettled in South Florida.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4750 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/foundation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2024\/10\/Katerina-Polina-259x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/foundation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2024\/10\/Katerina-Polina-259x300.png 259w, https:\/\/www.aae.org\/foundation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2024\/10\/Katerina-Polina-150x174.png 150w, https:\/\/www.aae.org\/foundation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2024\/10\/Katerina-Polina.png 385w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Under Dr. Benjamin&#8217;s supervision, endodontic residents at Nova are providing specialty care for asylum seekers as they work to rebuild their lives. Katerina tried for three months to obtain endodontic care for her 10-year-old daughter, Polina. On the brink of selling what little she had, Katerina turned to URRP for help. Polina received the care she needed within days.
