Just like a doctor in any other field, endodontists are specialists because they&#8217;ve completed an additional two or more years of training beyond dental school. Their additional training focuses on <a href=\"http:\/\/aae.org\/patients\/dental-symptoms\/tooth-pain\/\">diagnosing tooth pain<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/aae.org\/patients\/root-canal-treatment\/what-is-a-root-canal\/\">root canal treatment<\/a> and other procedures relating to the interior of the tooth. In many cases, a diseased tooth can be saved with endodontic treatment. They are experts in administering numbing medications, especially in patients who traditionally have problems getting and staying numb.
