AAE members from far and wide took part in the 12th annual celebration of Root Canal Awareness Week, May 6-12. Posters and postcards for referring dentists featured the “Superheroes of Saving Teeth” theme, emphasizing that the advanced training, specialized techniques and superior technologies of endodontists provide patients with the best care to save their natural teeth.
The AAE kicked off the week by releasing a new patient education video on CBCT. Produced by Dr. Kevin Kuo, an endodontic resident at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, the video features endodontists Drs. Brooke Blicher and Rebekah Lucier of White River Junction, Vt. They explain how CBCT technology helps endodontists pinpoint the exact cause of tooth pain.
During Root Canal Awareness Week, the video was viewed nearly 5,000 times.
Many members held their own Root Canal Awareness celebrations, donning superhero gear and reaching out to referring dentists and patients, then sharing the experiences on social media. You obviously spread the word, as we received a few hundred new likes on our Facebook page during Root Canal Awareness Week.
While all of you soared, some of you really reached for the stars. RCT Endodontics partnered with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington for Save a Smile Day, providing 16 patients from the Catholic Charities Spanish Catholic Center with free root canal treatments in honor of Root Canal Awareness Week. This amounted to $30,000 in free dental services! On the lighter side, Meridian Endodontics and Periodontics sent us this amusing mock press conference. Many other members flexed their creative muscles and wowed us with shareable graphics, renditions of our campaign models and t-shirt making.
