A No-Cost Professional Liability Policy for Recent Grads. Really? Yes, Really.

By Treloar & Heisel

Once again, the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) in collaboration with Treloar & Heisel is proud to offer its no-cost professional liability policy to recent graduates of endodontic residency programs. Applicants have to be new to practice and a member in good standing of the AAE.

The offer covers the first year of malpractice insurance coverage after graduation from a residency program, and will be prepaid directly by the AAE up to an amount of $300. In most cases this amount covers the full year’s coverage. In some rare scenarios where the annual cost may exceed $300, applicants will receive a $300 credit toward the total cost of the insurance for that first year.

Although coverage and policies can vary, professional liability insurance generally provides the insurance company’s experience in your malpractice defense, as well as coverage for payments made to the plaintiff.

Some claims commonly covered by malpractice insurance may include negligence, breach of contract, malpractice, non-performance, and failure to render services. Claims-made policies cover claims made during a designated policy period. Occurrence policies cover incidents that occurred during your coverage period, even when the claim is made later.

Applicants may choose from occurrence or claims-made coverage. This offer is not limited to a certain type of coverage or a certain limit, so there is flexibility and choice. Anyone who is interested in taking advantage of this offer may contact Treloar & Heisel directly at profliab@th-online.net or call 800-345-6040 for additional questions or to initiate the application process. Recently established dentists have up to six months following graduation to apply for coverage, to potentially obtain this offer. That said, it’s suggested to act on this offer as soon as possible, as it is limited to recent graduates.

Treloar & Heisel is familiar with applicants’ requirements based on their graduation date, and will assist with the application process. Treloar & Heisel will process the paperwork to get the bill paid directly: there is no need for applicants to pay and be reimbursed. Everything can be handled seamlessly on the backend by Treloar & Heisel and the AAE.

The process of application review, known as underwriting, is significantly shorter for most applicants since they are new to practice. Even for those who have practiced for a limited period, the underwriting process is much less cumbersome, adding to the list of benefits of securing this kind of coverage immediately post-graduation.

In case you’re wondering how this coverage can be offered at such a reduced cost (and effectively free to those who meet the eligibility requirements), the reason is to ensure that recent graduates can establish their careers with peace of mind, without further straining their budgets.

The malpractice insurance policy offered by the AAE is by MedPro Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company. As the nation’s leading dental malpractice insurance carrier, MedPro Group is trusted by over 40,000 dental professionals nationwide. MedPro has also earned the industry’s highest financial strength rating – A++ by A.M. Best – and is proud to be part of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies.
