Chicago – The American Association of Endodontists announced it has promoted Kim FitzSimmons, M.B.A., to the role of chief marketing & communications officer.
As assistant executive director, marketing & communications, FitzSimmons has led the AAE’s initiatives in marketing, communications and public relations since February 2017. She has accomplished much in that time, directing the rapid evolution of AAE’s marketing and communications capabilities and the development of several successful launches, including the Worth Saving campaign, Save Your Tooth Month and AAE’s multi-award-winning website redesign. She has bolstered the important work of the Foundation for Endodontics and coordinated AAE’s successful response to recent root canal misinformation. In her elevated role, she will continue promoting root canal safety and supporting the future of endodontics with the Foundation.
“Kim is a dynamic and gifted leader, marketer, and communicator, and her many accomplishments at the AAE over the span of just two years are remarkable,” said AAE Executive Director Ken Widelka. “With Kim elevated to this new role, she will be able to build on those achievements and lead her department to scoring many more victories for our specialty.”
FitzSimmons joined the AAE staff in February 2017 as assistant executive director for marketing & communications. She brings two decades of experience leading award-winning marketing for national healthcare brands, including two medical associations.
FitzSimmons majored in marketing and accounting at the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Linder College of Business and earned her M.B.A. at Roosevelt University Heller College of Business.
“It’s an exciting time at the AAE,” Widelka continued. “At the beginning of 2019, we moved into a new office space and launched a campaign to elevate the specialty to new heights. I am very pleased to promote Kim and see what Marketing & Communications will accomplish next under her leadership.”
