The University of Iowa Department of Endodontics has named its clinic the Walton Endodontic Clinic in honor of AAE Life member and Diplomate Dr. Richard E. Walton.

The milestone was marked on July 29 with an event featuring AAE President Dr. Keith V. Krell as well as many other former faculty and staff members.

“Today is a special day for our department, the college, and endodontics,” said Dr. Fabricio Teixeira, department chair. “Dr. Walton served as chair for 14 years and took the department to a different level. His passion for teaching remained evident. He is being recognized nationally and internationally as one of the major contributors to our specialty.”

The AAE has recognized Dr. Walton’s legacy with two of the most prestigious awards in endodontics: the I.B. Bender Lifetime Educator Award and Louis I. Grossman Award.

“It is a great honor to name our clinic as Walton Endodontic Clinic,” Dr. Teixeira continued. “Thank you to everyone that made this day possible. Congratulations, Dr. Walton.”
