Here’s what you should know about the AAE Virtual Career Fair.
Networking in the new normal can be stressful for job seekers and employers. The good news is that AAE is here to make it easier by way of the AAE Virtual Career Fair. Being hosted on the CareerEco platform on April 30, the career fair will provide participants the tools they need to plan and have a successful experience. The more you know and prepare, the better your results will be.
What’s new?
You might have already noticed that the AAE Career Fair is not on the AAE21 schedule. Removing it from the annual meeting lineup means that career fair participants can skip the anxiety-inducing challenge of scheduling interviews between educational sessions. The stand-alone event has the benefit of less distractions for better outcomes. Plus, your CareerEco account will make it easy to organize documents and appointments so you can stay ahead of the game.
Who can participate?
The career fair is open to all AAE members and non-member endodontic specialists, but you must be registered. AAE is proud to make this event available at no charge to job seekers, including:
• Residents who may be close to graduating
• Early careerists who are looking to elevate their position
• Mid-careerists who are looking for a change
• Retiring endodontists who are seeking part-time work
You may be in the position of seeking quality endodontist candidates for an open position. In the past, employers have included:
• Practice owners who are seeking to fill an open position
• Staffing agencies and corporations
• AAE member employers (not including corporations) enjoy a reduced rate
How to prepare – job seekers
To get started, simply register for a free CareerEco account (career fair platform). Then select the AAE Virtual Career Fair from the list of Upcoming Events tab. Now you can complete your candidate profile and upload your resume, cover letter, and other documents for employers to review. Need help with your resume? The AAE Career Center has various resume-writing resources to help.
Be sure to do your research in advance. Check out participating organizations and review their job postings to get a better understanding of the qualities they seek in a candidate. If you miss this step, recruiters may perceive it as a lack of real interest. You can also check out the Chat Now feature to get a jump on your networking. Participating organizations may post their availability for a live chat.
If you have a job seeker account on the AAE Career Center, mention your availability in your job seekers profile and/or resume. Employers will see your availability when reviewing resumes. While you’re on the site, check out the Career Resources page. You’ll find everything from Employment Contracts to Becoming an Associate. Please note that these resources are behind member login.
On the day of the career fair, be sure you have a stable internet connection. Candidates can log on and interact with potential employers in real time, from 11 AM to 3 PM CST. Have a list ready of the questions you’d like to ask potential employers.
How to prepare – employers
With proper preparation, the AAE Virtual Career Fair is a cost-effective way to engage with a niche market and expand your search geographically and demographically. First you’ll need to register for your employer CareerEco account. Once your account is set up, select the AAE Virtual Career Fair to register for the event. Now you can start to create your (unlimited) job postings.
Prior to the event, familiarize yourself with the tools available to you. Optimize your experience by reviewing the Virtual Fair and Chat Feature instructions page. Take advantage of tools to customize and brand your organizational profile from the Admin section. Remember, you are getting exposure to highly sought-after endodontic specialists. Be sure to make your listings stand out.
Check out the Dashboard section where you can access candidate resumes, cover letters, and other documents in the candidate section. You can start to review the candidates and determine who you’d like to contact for one-to-one chats. You can also post times when you will be available for impromptu chats. Job seekers can see the schedules of employers and may choose chat at any time.
On the day of the event, make sure your internet connection is stable and log in early. Have instructions handy in case you need them. Multiple staff can log in to work the fair and make real-time connections with participating AAE members. Typically, the more responsive you are to candidates, the more active your chats will be.
During the fair, you can flag candidates that meet your criteria at any time. They will appear in the My Liked Candidates tab. You can also flag candidates that you’d like to follow up with. You can even see a list of candidates who expressed interest in your organization in the Expressed Interest tab. Find more employer details (including pricing) about the fair here.
What you can expect after the career fair
After the event, it is vital that we hear from you. Expect an email follow up from the AAE with a brief survey so you can tell us how it went. As long as you keep your CareerEco account, you can have indefinite access to event information and reporting. In case you can’t participate in the spring career fair, keep an eye out for the fall AAE Virtual Career Fair in September 2021.
