New AAE Award Criteria

Designed to encourage and acknowledge lifelong enhancement of knowledge and skills, the AAE awards honor significant contributions to the specialty and community. All members are encouraged to participate in the AAE awards and recognition program at some point in their career.

Given the significance of these awards and after careful deliberation by the Honors and Awards Committee the award criteria was revised.  The new criteria and a detailed description for each award is now available at www.aae.org/awards.

The purpose of the AAE awards and recognition program is to:

  • Celebrate the excellence and unique qualities of recipients.
  • Reward and acknowledge important contributions.
  • Engender pride and excitement in the organization.
  • Inspire and motivate future leaders.

Timeline for Accepting New Applications

Earlier this year, AAE20 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis. Since recognizing AAE Award winners is such an important moment for winners to share with family and colleagues, the Honors and Awards committee and AAE Board determined that the 2020 award recognitions should be delayed by one year. As a result, the 2020 winners will be recognized at AAE21, and the individuals originally selected to receive awards in 2021 will be recognized at AAE22. Subsequently, the Honors and Awards Committee paused its consideration of nominations for the current leadership year.

The opportunity to nominate a colleague for one of the AAE’s prestigious awards will resume early next Summer.  Please be sure to check our website for details after AAE21 and look for announcements. Nominating candidates who have influenced your education, practice, research and life is a wonderful way for you to recognize them for their contributions and build a strong endodontic community.

If you have any questions about the process, please contact Executive Office Manager, Katherine Rouse by email krouse@aae.org or by phone at 312-872-0472.
