Surgery Workshop in Las Vegas Proves to be a Winning Bet

They say, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,” but that statement doesn’t always hold true. The knowledge gleaned inside the walls of the ARIA Resort February 9-10, 2018, will take the 100 practitioners who attended Insight Track: Surgery Workshop far in their endodontic careers.

This unique workshop drilled down into all aspects of endodontic microsurgery, providing attendees insight into current technologies, materials and techniques.

Workshop participants and their guests also enjoyed vacation activities and world-class entertainment available on the famous Las Vegas Strip.

2018 Insight Track: Surgery Workshop

The Surgery Workshop kicked off on a Friday afternoon with presentations on contemporary microsurgical techniques moderated by Dr. James L. Gutmann. The program continued Saturday with workshops that provided participants the opportunity for hands-on learning using a surgical operating microscope and state-of-the-art 3-D models. Topics included crown lengthening, hard and soft tissue management, root-end resection, preparation and fillings, and suturing techniques. Speakers included Drs. Meetu R. Kohli, Enrique M. Merino, Frank C. Setzer and Peter Z. Tawil.

“This workshop was unique in that the participants had the opportunity to interact with several of the best clinicians in the field,” said Dr. John D. Regan, workshop chair. “It became obvious from the didactic and hands-on portions of the meeting that different approaches can be taken to achieve success in surgery.”

His favorite moment? “Seeing the completed amazing setup on Saturday morning.”

Attendees learned how to utilize innovative materials and operating equipment for the best patient outcomes, and there also were plenty of networking opportunities and ways to connect and share best practices with colleagues.

For Dr. Timothy C. Kirkpatrick, chair, Continuing Education Committee, the unique element of Surgery Workshop was that the didactic portion of the course was followed up with a day of hands-on training that reinforced the principles learned in the lectures.

“The participants are eager to increase their knowledge and skills in providing microsurgical endodontic treatment to their patients,” he said. “The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.”

As for Dr. Kirkpatrick’s favorite moment: “Seeing the workshop rooms set up with 50 stations, all with Zeiss surgical operating microscopes, was truly impressive.”

In addition to the planning committee and devoted AAE staff, who went the extra mile to ensure a successful event, this workshop was made possible by our sponsors Zeiss and Brasseler USA.
