Warmest Wishes and a Wishlist

As 2017 draws to a close, a new year is again on our doorstep. While we can reflect back on the many positive things that have transpired in the past year, we must also remember the challenges we will continue to face in 2018. Many of these challenges to our profession are very familiar and our strategic plan is in place to meet these head-on. As this association moves into the New Year, let me share a few personal thoughts and wishes regarding the members of our American Association of Endodontists:

  • That our younger members continue to enter this wonderful specialty with endodontic mentors that share their experiences with a positive outlook;
  • That our members volunteering in various capacities for the AAE continue to have the foresight and initiative to be creative and influential in their roles for the AAE;
  • That our military service members remain safe around the world as they represent our country and our specialty with honor and pride; and
  • That all of our members, despite differences of opinion at times, can and will work together in a collegial fashion moving forward as we work toward the same goals.

With this holiday season upon us, let us also not forget that for many people this time of year can be a period of stress and despair. Look around within your community and within your circle of friends and family. There is someone for whom you can make a difference. As Sally Koch once stated, “Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” With a giving mindset and a warm heart, each of us can make a difference in the lives of people less fortunate. Be thankful for what you have and remember the gift of giving.

I look forward to working with you and for you in the coming year. May these holidays be filled with health and happiness for each of our members as I send you my warmest wishes for the coming New Year.
