CHICAGO – The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) is encouraging members and patients alike to vote for their favorite of four urban landmarks.
The contest connects the importance of preserving natural wonders with the importance of preserving one’s natural teeth. It features Boston’s Charles River Esplanade, the Chicago River, San Antonio’s Phil Hardberger Park and Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park.
“Endodontists understand what’s worth saving,” said AAE President Dr. Patrick E. Taylor. “Just like endodontists are an ally to natural teeth, the AAE wants to be an ally to natural landmarks that are worth saving. We feel the landmarks contest draws an important connection that will resonate with the public.”
Voting is open until April 24, 2019, and the natural landmark with the most votes will receive $20,000 towards its preservation fund and $30,000 in free endodontic services in the city in which it is located.
The Landmarks Contest is one of many activations in progress for the AAE’s Worth Saving consumer campaign. Another is a recent survey dedicated towards figuring out what Americans believe is worth saving, which highlighted some noteworthy statistics:
- The top reasons people value saving their natural teeth are because “it’s healthier” and “it gives you a better appearance.”
- 61 percent of women feel strongly that saving their natural teeth helps them feel better about themselves compared to 51 percent of men.
- Twenty-four percent of millennials ranked teeth as the No. 1 thing they would save or maintain about their body compared to baby boomers’ preference for saving their eyesight (37 percent).
- More than 95 percent of people say it’s important to save your natural teeth.
The AAE launched its Worth Saving campaign in January 2019 as an innovative consumer engagement campaign pilot to increase awareness about the important specialty care the Association’s 8,000 members provide, and to help the public realize the importance of preserving their natural teeth. The campaign is a combination of social media and digital promotion, time-tested earned press media, activation of affiliate and non-profit members, and direct consumer engagement activities.
Patients who click on the campaign’s digital ads will be sent to the AAE’s Find My Endodontist online search tool. The online search tool allows prospective patients to easily find an AAE member endodontist based on distance and office hours, and it allows patients to contact the practice to make appointments.
The AAE believes the Landmarks Contest is an engaging way to elevate endodontists, as well as these preservation groups, which are doing important work.
“Like our nation’s beautiful 2,596 historic landmarks, our 32 natural teeth are Worth Saving and deserve specialty care,” Dr. Taylor concluded. “We encourage you to encourage your patients, family and friends to vote today!”
