Regenerative Endodontics: Reparative Dentin Formation
Topic: Pulp CappingLearning Objectives:
1) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various pulp capping materials and their physicochemical properties.
2) Explain the histological reclassification of pulpal inflammatory conditions.
3) Describe advanced protocols for caries removal, hemostsis and bioactive endodontic cement (BEC) application.
The induction of reparative dentin formation after caries removal and pulpal exposure continues to be a clinical challenge. Calcium hydroxide, the paragon in direct pulp capping has been replaced with the introduction of mineral trioxide aggregate and other bioactive endodontic cements (BECs). This presentation will review currently available pulp capping agents and explore histological evidence in humans that support its usage under a variety of clinical conditions. Treatment recommendations and advanced clinical protocols will be reviewed. Case controls will be presented using a two-visit and single visit protocols supported by long-term radiographic reviews.
One half-day lecture with keynote.
Dr. Bogen has no proprietary, financial and/or personal interest pertaining to his presentation to disclose.
