We can only share with you the information we receive that is important for members to know.\u00a0<\/b>We have been reaching out to major suppliers on behalf of endodontists to advocate for your prioritization. There is no denying that N95 masks are difficult to obtain. Based on information we have received from our vendor partners,<b>\u00a0the N95 masks are only available in areas deemed \u201chot spots\u201d by FEMA.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>N95 Alternatives<\/b><br \/>\nThere are other filtering facepiece respirators (FFRS) that the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmsend86.com\/link.cfm?r=9xkLY1D1zzND4USneeUFJg~~&amp;pe=fxWydEcZNOP3-vuEl2Ta32yN_j3_llsW4z3h1DtxMGBECEIE62Osl9PKX04xlN5sshWJgGdfbKUlNRlnuUrvZA~~&amp;t=INSERT_TRACKING_ENCID\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-fontcolor=\"2\">FDA has approved<\/a>, alternatives to N95 masks during this pandemic. On March 24, the FDA issued an emergency authorization for non-NIOSH N95 respirators, but excluded the KN95 respirator made in China, due to concerns about fraudulent masks. On April 3, the FDA expanded that authorization to Chinese respirators, making KN95 respirators eligible for authorization but only if they meet certain requirements, including \u201cevidence demonstrating that the respirator meets certain standards\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>AAE recommends the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Contact suppliers each day at 8:00 a.m. EST, and continue to call often.<\/b>\u00a0Limited quantities are available each morning but no back orders are being taken.<\/li>\n<li>Refer to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmsend86.com\/link.cfm?r=9xkLY1D1zzND4USneeUFJg~~&amp;pe=uiySDcZMdb0SDmbV-X_dam2B7wJWMiKhpmAu4-q8EKDeJbP4856NJVdUYOOGsTzd62vqCDxgjIKE6ZTowuM-7A~~&amp;t=INSERT_TRACKING_ENCID\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-fontcolor=\"2\">this document<\/a>\u00a0as a guide for understanding the differences between filtering facepiece respirator classes.<\/li>\n<li>If opting for an N95 alternative, please do due diligence to ensure you are obtaining authorized FFRs from a trusted distributor.<\/li>\n<li>As another helpful resource, the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities has created this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmsend86.com\/link.cfm?r=9xkLY1D1zzND4USneeUFJg~~&amp;pe=vSlZfZfDmpjcrbg3jpkPJ3BDJMt3gmYRCuxNuwtEeJ5LS2p2sZ0rVlesZwJPeTgRxGIj6QL1CJRHk5Yb5TuDSw~~&amp;t=INSERT_TRACKING_ENCID\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-fontcolor=\"2\">FAQ document on\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmsend86.com\/link.cfm?r=9xkLY1D1zzND4USneeUFJg~~&amp;pe=L_3g4yrNjhC3lImdArWiay0vr3FH_RTLBfbvjFlc4TMwnJ5fyNVgSae3Ie_hAnCih5l2y-1NIxoflkK6FGTl-A~~&amp;t=INSERT_TRACKING_ENCID\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-fontcolor=\"2\">reusing masks<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>CDC Issues New Guidance<\/b><br \/>\nPlease also be advised that the CDC has updated the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmsend86.com\/link.cfm?r=9xkLY1D1zzND4USneeUFJg~~&amp;pe=g-VGz3s7cFPKlDuL0xLZBT_wBuBLyTcKTpnH0SQhczFGYjk0SFL0JBCij3jqncAMIKG2Xs4817OoZvcqH9NKWQ~~&amp;t=INSERT_TRACKING_ENCID\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-fontcolor=\"2\">Interim Infection Prevention and Control Guidance for Dental Settings During the COVID-19 Response<\/a>\u00a0to include guidance for emergency clinical care\u00a0of patients with known or suspected COVID-19.
