{"id":18904,"date":"2021-05-04T15:46:28","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T20:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/?p=18904"},"modified":"2021-05-04T15:47:00","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T20:47:00","slug":"aae21-a-virtual-meeting-that-connected-us-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/aae21-a-virtual-meeting-that-connected-us-all\/","title":{"rendered":"AAE21: A Virtual Meeting That Connected Us All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"rounded-corners alignright wp-image-18661 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Dr.-Law-photo-official700-240x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Dr.-Law-photo-official700-240x300.png 240w, https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Dr.-Law-photo-official700-150x188.png 150w, https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Dr.-Law-photo-official700.png 600w, https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Dr.-Law-photo-official700-240x300@2x.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>As Day One of our first major virtual meeting dawned, we weren\u2019t sure quite what to expect. \u00a0The Annual Meeting Planning Committee had been developing AAE21 Live &amp; On Demand for several months. \u00a0They spent countless hours transforming the live experiences you knew and loved into a remote format; they thought through every detail.\u00a0 Yet, there was still an element of uncertainty going into our very first truly virtual AAE Annual Meeting.<\/p>\n<p>What resulted far exceeded our expectations. \u00a0Our registration total of 2,372 attendees truly astonished us.\u00a0 The sheer will of our membership to continue their education, to view their favorite special events, and to translate social activities into virtual was incredibly moving. \u00a0In addition, to date, $3,906 was raised for Feeding America.<\/p>\n<p>AAE21 also featured 44 exhibiting companies, 11 products featured in the Product Showcase, 10 To the Point Lectures and 12 Rapid Fire Presentations \u2013 all now available on demand.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual exhibit hall is online through May 31, so if you were too busy during the meeting to visit booths, you still have time to view them on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventscribe.net\/2021\/AAE21\/index.asp?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aae.org\/aae21<\/a>.\u00a0 We are grateful for all our corporate partners who sponsored our meeting.\u00a0 We could not have had such a high quality meeting without their support.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed the music and storytelling of John Ondrasik, our Keynote speaker. Many of you remarked that you believe he was our best Keynote yet. I agree; he was very inspiring and got us thinking \u2026 \u201cWhat kind of world do we want?\u201d In case you missed this wonderful event during the Annual Meeting, you can view it <a href=\"https:\/\/cdmcd.co\/xvW4GJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on demand<\/a>.\u00a0 I encourage you to watch it.<\/p>\n<p>The phrase \u201cnew normal\u201d has taken on a new meaning, thanks to you, who have instilled in each other, and in me, a <em>renewed<\/em> passion for endodontics. We\u2019re better than \u201cnormal\u201d now. I believe, in some ways, we\u2019re more connected than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>Virtual is no longer just a temporary stand-in for live. Virtual is a valuable asset to organizations and it\u2019s an integral component to how we learn, connect and conduct business. It\u2019s here to stay. I think we\u2019ll likely be seeing more hybrid event models in the future.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I look forward to gathering in person again when the time is right. As some members commented in the live chat during the Keynote presentation, \u201cAAE members will be like a \u2018Phoenix\u2019 rising next year in Arizona\u201d, and I think that\u2019s true. Assuming the fates allow it \u2013 AAE22 will undoubtedly be our very best meeting yet.<\/p>\n<p>Until then: be safe, be well, and be ready for an Endo Strong year.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for a great AAE21.<\/p>\n<p>Alan S.
