AAE members around the country and beyond took part in the 11th<\/sup> annual celebration of Root Canal Awareness Week, May 7-13. Posters and postcards for referring dentists featured the “Superheroes of Saving Teeth” theme, emphasizing that the advanced training, specialized techniques and superior technologies of endodontists provide patients with the best care to save their natural teeth.<\/p>\n

\"WhoThat message also resonates in a new patient education video<\/a> released by the AAE during Root Canal Awareness Week. Produced by Dr. Kevin Kuo, an endodontic resident at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, the video features endodontists Drs. Brooke Blicher and Rebekah Lucier of White River Junction, Vermont.
They explain how endodontists have additional training to best treat patients and highlight the things patients should look for to ensure they’re receiving quality endodontic care, such as dental dams, operating microscopes and advanced digital imaging.<\/p>\n

During Root Canal Awareness Week, the video reached more than 235,000 people and was viewed more than 66,000 times. On the AAE Facebook page, the video was the AAE’s best-performing to-date, with 1,042 shares, 3,513 reactions and 182 comments. There were also more than 1,000 new likes of the Facebook page during Root Canal Awareness Week.<\/p>\n

Members also participated in Root Canal Awareness Week,
reaching out to their referring dentists and potential patients. Dr. Adam S. Harwood,
an endodontist in New York City, was featured in an article in Newsweek<\/em><\/a>, Dr. Derek T. Peek was highlighted in a story on KCRG-TV<\/a>
in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dr. Madelyn G. Gambrel was on WTVR-TV<\/a>
in Richmond, Virginia.<\/p>\n

At their practice in Pleasant Hill, California, Drs. Kenneth W. Tittle and Joanne M. Jensen identified a referrer each day during Root Canal Awareness Week to receive root canal treatment for a patient in need at no charge. This is the fourth year the practice has offered charitable care during Root Canal Awareness Week.<\/p>\n
