Here are the results:<\/p>\n<form id=\"gform_73\" action=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/case-challenge-part-1\/\" enctype=\"multipart\/form-data\" method=\"post\" novalidate=\"\" data-formid=\"73\">\n<fieldset id=\"field_73_1\" data-js-reload=\"field_73_1\">\n<legend><em>What would be your primary treatment choice?<\/em><\/legend>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_0\" for=\"choice_73_1_0\">a. Non-surgical retreatment &#8211; <strong>60%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_1\" for=\"choice_73_1_1\">b. Apical surgery &#8211; <strong>20%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_2\" for=\"choice_73_1_2\">c. Non-surgical retreatment and apical surgery &#8211; <strong>13%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_3\" for=\"choice_73_1_3\">d. Marsupialization or decompression &#8211; <strong>0%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_4\" for=\"choice_73_1_4\">e. Extraction &#8211; <strong>0%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_5\" for=\"choice_73_1_5\">f. Intentional replantation &#8211; <strong>7%<\/strong><\/label>\n<label id=\"label_73_1_6\" for=\"choice_73_1_6\">g. No treatment &#8211; <\/label><label id=\"label_73_1_4\" for=\"choice_73_1_4\"><strong>0%<\/strong><\/label>\n<\/fieldset>\n<\/form>\n\t<p><strong>Treatment Rendered<\/strong>: Intentional replantation of tooth #23 and tooth #24. Teeth were extracted atraumatically and bathed under constant stream of HBSS. Roots were stained with methylene blue and no cracks\/fractures were identified. Root resections performed and the untreated canals instrumented with rotary files and obturated with BC sealer and gutta percha. Retro preparations were done with a 1\/4 round bur and retro fillings done with BC putty. Teeth were replanted with digital pressure and stabilized with a non-resorbable monofilament suture to the adjacent teeth&#8217;s brackets and further secured with flowable composite.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Case1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<strong>Immediate post-op<\/strong>: teeth were left superior to their original position to gain ferrule for new crown preparations.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Case2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"234\" \/>\n<strong>6-month recall<\/strong>: Both teeth had Class I mobility and were no longer sensitive to percussion at the six month recall examination, and the CBCT demonstrated satisfactory short-term healing.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Case3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"624\" \/>\n<p><em>Dr. Bianca Aboubakare is an endodontist in Phoenix, Ariz., and member of the Resident and New Practitioner Committee.
