{"id":26316,"date":"2024-04-01T08:46:02","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T13:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/?p=26316"},"modified":"2024-03-23T15:23:43","modified_gmt":"2024-03-23T20:23:43","slug":"northern-alabama-court-rules-corporate-transparency-act-unconstitutional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/northern-alabama-court-rules-corporate-transparency-act-unconstitutional\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Alabama Court Rules Corporate Transparency Act Unconstitutional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As reported in <em>ADA News<\/em>, on March 1, a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama declared the Corporate Transparency Act unconstitutional in response to a lawsuit claiming that it violates five amendments of the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The Corporate Transparency Act obligates certain businesses to disclose ownership details to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, aiming to combat tax evasion and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>However, this ruling solely impacts the parties involved in the lawsuit, leaving the legislation intact for other businesses.
