The American Association of Endodontists is proud to honor Dr. Patrick E. Taylor as the recipient of the 2025 President\u2019s Award, recognizing his profound and lasting impact on the specialty of endodontics. This distinguished award is presented annually to an individual whose contributions have shaped the profession and inspired those around them\u2014and Dr. Taylor is a shining example of such dedication.<\/p>\n
A passionate clinician, educator, and leader, Dr. Taylor\u2019s journey in dentistry spans decades and encompasses an extraordinary breadth of service. His career began in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, where he served for 21 years, ultimately holding the position of Executive Officer of the Naval Dental Center, Pearl Harbor. Following his military service, he transitioned to private practice, dedicating another 20 years to serving patients with the highest standards of care.<\/p>\n
Dr. Taylor\u2019s academic foundation includes a B.A. in physiology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a D.D.S. from UC San Francisco. He completed his endodontic residency at the University of Washington, earning both his Certificate in Endodontics and an M.S.D. His connection to the University of Washington remains strong to this day, where he serves as affiliate faculty in the Department of Endodontics. There, he mentors the next generation of endodontists as a clinical instructor, mock oral examiner, and interviewer, while also supporting the program through fundraising and leadership as a past president of the Dean\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n
Dr. Taylor\u2019s influence extends far beyond academia. He has served as President of the AAE and the American Board of Endodontics, and has contributed to the Foundation for Endodontics as a Trustee. His commitment to organized dentistry is evident in his leadership at the local level, having served as President of both the Washington State Association of Endodontists and the Seattle King County Dental Society. He has also provided free dental care to underserved populations in his community, further demonstrating his compassion and service-oriented mindset.<\/p>\n
Internationally, Dr. Taylor has brought his expertise to the global stage, currently serving as Treasurer of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations, where his financial acumen is both respected and admired.<\/p>\n
Outside the clinic and classroom, Dr. Taylor enjoys a full and active life with his wife, indulging in favorite pastimes like hiking, gardening, and cooking. Known affectionately to some as a \u201cnice guy with moxie,\u201d Dr. Taylor has proven time and again that while kindness defines his character, resilience and tenacity define his leadership. A fierce advocate for the specialty, he has consistently urged his peers to stand strong, speak up, and never back down when it comes to protecting and promoting endodontics.<\/p>\n
Dr. Taylor\u2019s legacy is one of service, strength, and unwavering commitment. We are thrilled to recognize his many achievements and enduring impact with the 2025 President\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n
