Navigating dental benefits is an important part of practice management. From verifying patient coverage to\u00a0submitting\u00a0claims and appealing denials, understanding the process can help endodontists reduce administrative burdens and improve reimbursement outcomes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Verify Coverage Before Treatment<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before treatment begins, practices should verify a patient’s dental benefits through an online portal, electronic verification service,\u00a0or by contacting\u00a0the dental benefits company directly.\u00a0During verification, it\u00a0is important to confirm not only that the patient is covered, but also which specific CDT procedure codes are eligible for benefits.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some practices choose to request\u00a0a preauthorization\u00a0before treatment. While preauthorization may provide\u00a0additional\u00a0information about coverage, it can also delay care if response times are lengthy.
