{"id":8227,"date":"2018-05-08T09:30:49","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T14:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/?p=8227"},"modified":"2019-02-13T12:21:26","modified_gmt":"2019-02-13T18:21:26","slug":"happy-root-canal-awareness-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/happy-root-canal-awareness-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Root Canal Awareness Week!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\t<p>To mark the 12<sup>th <\/sup>annual celebration of Root Canal Awareness Week, the AAE released a new patient education video highlighting one of endodontics&#8217; cutting-edge advancements, cone beam computed tomography. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0eoYdtAmr8s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How CBCT Helps Endodontists Expose the Source of Tooth Pain<\/a> helps patients understand how 3-D imaging greatly enhances an endodontist&#8217;s ability to diagnose, evaluate, treat and care for patients.<\/p>\n<p>You are encouraged to share the CBCT video with patients and referring dentists, along with the AAE\u2019s entire series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLGTyf3cFveeNz335kOTAUKW4V7PrAd6Ix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">patient education videos<\/a>. You also can use Root Canal Awareness Week to build on relationships with your referring dentists. The AAE offers many free resources to encourage collaboration, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/04\/TreatmentStandards_WhitePaper_v1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Treatment Standards White Paper<\/a> \u2013 Approved by the AAE Board of Directors at its annual meeting in April, this white paper describes current methods of endodontic access, canal shaping, disinfection, obturation, and restoration, and outlines the competencies in each area that all clinicians should be able to achieve.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/09\/EndodonticCompetency_WhitePaper_v2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Endodontic Competency White Paper\u00a0<\/a>&#8211; These AAE guidelines are meant to create a context for knowledge and skill that should provide a standard for all practitioners who perform endodontic treatment.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aae.org\/specialty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/19AAE_CaseDifficultyAssessmentForm.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Case Difficulty Assessment Form\u00a0<\/a>&#8211; The AAE designed the Endodontic Case Difficulty Assessment Form for use in endodontic curricula.
