Examination Date, Application Deadline, Pearson Vue Registration
Upcoming Test Dates: May 11 - 15, 2021
In an effort to plan for possible room capacity limitations or other issues at Pearson Vue due to COVID 19, the ABE will offer the Written Exam over a consecutive five-day period in 2021. Dates are as follows:
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Wednesday May 12, 2021
Thursday May 13, 2021
Friday May 14, 2021
Saturday May 15, 2021
Please Note: Applications will be available the week of November 9, 2020.
You must have applications in to the ABE no later than January 8, 2021. We cannot accept applications after this date. Once you submit your applications with the ABE, you must then register to sit for the exam directly with Pearson Vue.
Pearson Vue Registration
Pearson Vue Registration for the ABE Written Exam will open on February 15, 2021. Please be aware that test center registration is done on a first-come-first-serve basis and that centers rapidly fill to capacity. We advise examinees to contact Pearson Vue the day that registration opens.
Portfolios are accepted for review twice a year. Portfolios must be uploaded to the Digital Case History website at amboardendo.org prior to or on the current submission date (listed above) to be included in that examination review cycle. Portfolios uploaded after the current submission date will not be reviewed until the next submission date (provided that the Case History Eligibility period is current).
Examination Dates and Information
In order to examine as many candidates as possible, we have extended the October 2021 Oral Exam from our usual three day exam, to a four day exam. As of now, we plan to hold the October 2021 Orals in person and in our usual testing facility in Saint Louis.
Exam Dates for the October 2021 Oral Exam are as follows:
Wednesday, October 20, 2021
Thursday, October 21, 2021
Friday, October 22, 2021
Saturday, October 23, 2021
The staff of the ABE will contact all candidates eligible to challenge the oral exams via email beginning on April 20, 2021. Please be sure to check your emails for information on how to register for the exam. If you don't see the email in your inbox, please always check your "Spam", "Junk" or "Other" folders.
To help accommodate as many candidates as possible, we are also reviewing the addition of a subsequent virtual oral exam or additional dates to our March 2022 exam. We will keep everyone apprised via email and on this webpage as decisions are made.
For candidates concerned about when they will be able to take the oral exam, please note that you can switch tracks and submit your Case History Portfolio as the second stage of the three-part ABE board certification process. There will be no penalty or additional fees to make this switch. If you would like to switch tracks, please email your track change request to our office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We appreciate your patience with the ever-changing events brought on by the pandemic, and want to acknowledge your dedication and hard work as you move forward with the board certification process.
