Written Examination Information

Examination Date, Application Deadline, Pearson Vue Registration

The ABE Written Exam will be administered at Pearson Vue testing facilities on the following date:

May 16, 2023

Application Deadline

Please Note:  Online applications will be available the week of November 7, 2022.

Applications must be submitted to the ABE no later than January 9, 2023.  We cannot accept applications after this date. Upon approval of the online ABE Applications, an autogenerated email with instructions on registering for the Written Examination directly with Pearson Vue will be sent to the examinee.

Pearson Vue Registration

Pearson Vue Registration for the ABE Written Exam will open on February 21, 2023.  Please be aware that test center registration is done on a first-come-first-serve basis and that centers rapidly fill to capacity. We advise examinees to contact Pearson Vue the day that registration opens.

Case History Examination Information

Portfolios are accepted for review twice a year. Portfolios must be uploaded to the Digital Case History website at amboardendo.org prior to or on the current submission date (listed above) to be included in that examination review cycle. Portfolios uploaded after the current submission date will not be reviewed until the next submission date (provided that the Case History Eligibility period is current).

Registration for the October 2023 exam is not yet open.  Please check back for when registration information will be sent via email to those who are eligible to take the exam.

Candidates who may be concerned about when they will be able to take the oral exam, please note that you can switch tracks and submit your Case History Portfolio as the second stage of the three-part ABE board certification process. There will be no penalty or additional fees to make this switch.
