Leticia Chaves de Souza: 2024 Foundation & Specialty1 Partners/ADEA Scholar

The Foundation for Endodontics is proud to announce that Dr. Leticia Chaves de Souza, Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, is the 2024 Foundation & Specialty1 Partners/ADEA Scholar for the ADEA Leadership Institute.

For more than a decade, the Foundation has awarded a $25,000 scholarship to a deserving endodontic educator, supporting their participation in this prestigious yearlong program. Designed to develop the next generation of leaders in dental and higher education, the ADEA Leadership Institute is the flagship professional development program for exceptional mid-career faculty and administrators. Graduates of the Institute have gone on to hold prominent positions such as department chairs, program directors, and deans of dental schools.

The Foundation is grateful for the corporate support of Specialty1 Partners, which has financially supported the scholarship since 2022.

Dr. Chaves de Souza is a distinguished researcher whose work explores the physical-chemical, mechanical, and biological properties of endodontic materials and instruments, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying apical periodontitis. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of endodontics and contributed a book chapter on endodontic filling materials.
