Freedom Scholarship Continues to Open Doors for Residents
The Foundation for Endodontics, with the incredibly generous support of Dentsply Sirona, is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Freedom Scholarship.
Designed to help ease the burden of student loan debt, this prestigious scholarship attracted dozens of highly qualified applicants. Following a competitive review process, three exceptional individuals were selected for their promise, passion, and dedication to the specialty of endodontics.
The 2026 recipients were formally recognized at APICES in St. Louis, where they were celebrated alongside their peers and mentors. The Foundation is honored to support them as they continue their professional journeys and looks forward to the meaningful contributions they will make to the future of endodontics and patient care.
Congratulations to Drs. Luc de la Villefromoy, Sierra Nunn, and Anas Akhras, recipients of the 2026 Freedom Scholarship!

“Winning the Freedom Scholarship means so much more than just the financial support—it is a powerful reminder that my journey, perseverance, and purpose have been seen and valued. As a first-generation college student, mother of three, and endodontic resident, this scholarship lifts a significant burden off my family and allows me to focus on becoming the best endodontist I can be. I’m incredibly grateful for this investment in my future, and I hope to one day pay it forward by supporting others the way I’ve been supported.”

“Receiving the Dentsply Sirona Freedom Scholarship is an incredible honor and a meaningful affirmation of the resilience, sacrifice, and commitment that have shaped my journey into endodontics. My path through dental school and specialty training has included personal loss, financial hardship, and the demands of advanced education, making this generous support especially meaningful at this pivotal stage. This scholarship provides invaluable financial relief and allows me to continue building on my commitment to compassionate, clinically excellent endodontic care, preserving natural teeth, expanding access to high-quality treatment, and giving back to the communities that have helped shape my journey.”
