Paper Point Editorial – May 2025
By Priscilla L. Carpenter, DDS, MS
I’d like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to all of you who recently challenged the written Board exam. You’re one big step closer to Board certification! That in itself is no small feat, and it deserves to be celebrated. Whether you’re deep in residency or nearing the finish line, take a moment to acknowledge how far you’ve come. Every stage of this journey matters, and every step forward is a win worth relishing.
Endodontics is a deeply rewarding, yet undeniably demanding profession. It requires not only precision and skill, but also resilience and heart. In the midst of striving for excellence, don’t forget to pause and appreciate your growth, professionally and personally.
The season is changing, and with it comes new learning, new friendships, and new opportunities to rise to the challenge. Whether you’re starting new cases, exploring research, or collaborating with mentors and co-residents, this is a time of powerful momentum.
For the readers who are applying to residency this cycle, best of luck! Remember, what’s meant for you will always be for you. This path isn’t meant to be easy; if it were, everyone would do it. But you’ve already proven you’re capable of the commitment and courage it takes by taking steps forward toward endodontics.
Wherever you are in your journey; first-year resident, applicant, or preparing for the oral boards, know that you’re part of a passionate, supportive, and inspiring community. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep celebrating the small (and big!) victories.
Residents: don’t forget to mark your calendars for APICES 2025 which will be taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 15 and 16. The RNPC has put together an incredible program for you all, and we cannot wait to be together again in just a couple more months. If you have questions about anything at all, do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time: pcarpenter.dds@gmail.com.
Onward and upward,
