The Communiqué is distributed monthly via email to AAE members and supporters.
Its mission is to promote communication among AAE members, leaders of the AAE, ABE and AAE Foundation, and AAE affiliate organizations; encourage coordinated activities; inform the membership of developments in the endodontic specialty and dental profession; and raise awareness of AAE events, products and services.

Last month, our Immediate Past President Dr. Garry Myers, Executive Director Ken Widelka and I had the distinct pleasure of representing the AAE at the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) 11th World Endodontic Congress in Seoul.
Seventy-eight attendees viewed presentations and participated in hands-on workshops that refined their skills and enhanced their knowledge of contemporary endodontic microsurgery.
If you found yourself driving between a Sam’s Club and the interstate (I-26) that runs through Johnson City, Tenn., earlier this year, chances are a unique billboard piqued your interest. For three months, Dr. Keith Elliott sponsored the “Endodontists” billboard, which was designed to promote our specialty to the general public.
AAE educator member Dr. Harmeet D. Walia passed away on Oct. 17 in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Walia is remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, professor and friend.
Former AAE member Dr. Jake McGuire, D.D.S., Ph.D., passed away October 17, 2018, following an ongoing health battle with Myasthenia Gravis.
Groundbreaking research fuels the specialty and gives both established and developing endodontists the tools to achieve excellence in patient care, saving natural teeth whenever possible. Supporting endodontic research with resources and funding is one of the Foundation for Endodontics’ highest priorities.
