Rebekah Lucier Pryles DMD, Certificate in Endodontics

Biography

Dr. Rebekah Lucier Pryles received her DMD and her certificate in Endodontics from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She continues to be involved in teaching and research and holds a faculty appointment at her alma mater as well as at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a fellow in both the American and International College of Dentistry. She was awarded the ADA’s 10 Under 10 Award in for 2020. Dr. Lucier Pryles is involved in organized dentistry, and the immediate past President of the Vermont State Dental Society.

While providing state of the art specialty care in her private practice in White River Junction, Vermont, she continues to pursue her academic interests. Dr. Lucier Pryles co-wrote the textbook, Endodontics: A Review, with Dr. Blicher and Dr. Jarshen Lin. She has published extensively, including in Inside Dentistry and the Journal of Periodontics. Along with Dr. Blicher, Dr. Lucier Pryles has lectured both locally and internationally on endodontic diagnosis, non-odontogenic pain, fractures, trauma, resorption, treatment of immature teeth, and CBCTs in endodontics as well as on ideal restorative care following endodontic treatment. Dr. Lucier Pryles is involved in organized dentistry as the immediate past President of the Vermont State Dental Society.

    • Review outcomes data for nonsurgical root canal therapy, nonsurgical retreatment, and apical microsurgery

    • Discuss the pre-operative and treatment-related factors that may influence outcomes following endodontic treatment.

    Both diagnosis and prognosis are foundational to clinical decision making. In this age of shared decision making, clinicians must possess a fundamental understanding of expected clinical outcomes. Moreover, clinicians must recognize the pre-operative and treatment-related factors that impact outcomes. This presentation will review the prognosis data for nonsurgical root canal therapy, nonsurgical retreatment, and apical microsurgery as well as the factors that can influence outcomes. This information can be applied to treatment planning decisions and facilitate true informed consent.
