The AAE’s most recent report on the periodic review of the specialty is from 2021. The report, submitted to the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards (NCRDSCB) is required every 10 years for endodontics to retain its status as a recognized dental specialty. It investigates changes in endodontics over the last decade, including trends in membership, Board certification and education, changes in scope of practice, practice environments and referral patterns, and advancements in research and technology.
