David A. Beach, D.M.D., M.S.

Biography

Dr. Beach graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2003, and completed his endodontic residency at the University of Florida in 2005. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2008. He currently is an assistant clinical courtesy professor in the department of endodontics at the University of Florida in addition to maintaining a private practice. Dr. Beach has experience giving lectures about various endodontic topics.

    At the conclusion of the presentation, participants should be able to:

    • Describe the different possible etiologies of dental pain.
    • Identify the differences in treating inflamed vs. necrotic teeth.
    • Manage pain and infection before and after endodontic therapy.

    The treatment of dental-related pain is dependent on its etiology. Participants will learn the appropriate situations to prescribe specific analgesics and antibiotics based on pulpal diagnosis. Complications and contraindications will be discussed along with clinical case-based examples.

  • Root Canals Gone Wild: Overcoming Endodontic Problems

    At the conclusion of the presentation, participants should be able to:

    • Improve the accuracy of pulp testing and avoid misdiagnosis
    • Obtain profound anesthesia and avoid anesthetic failures
    • Describe situations that complicate access preparation
    • Describe ways to isolate compromised teeth prior to endodontic therapy
    • Determine an accurate working length with electronic apex locators
    • Discuss complications involved with cleaning and shaping and how to avoid them
    • Discuss complications with obturation
    • Manage postoperative complications and flare ups of infection
    • Describe restorative failures and complications with posts
    • Determine the endodontic degree of difficulty with case selection templates

    Root canal therapy is a complex procedure with possible complications arising at every step. Participants in this information-packed course will learn how to identify, avoid and manage situations that may occur during endodontic therapy. The course is geared towards the general practitioner. Participants will expand their knowledge of:
