Jay Marlin, D.M.D.

Biography

From 1972–1987, Dr. Jay Marlin acted as associate clinical professor of endodontics in the graduate endodontic program at Harvard Dental School. Since 1992, Dr. Marlin has been the associate clinical professor of the endodontic program at Tufts Dental School and since 2003 he has been the chief of endodontics at the dental residency program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Marlin is in private practice at Worcester Endodontics and is also the inventor of Obtura.

  • The Rapid-Flow Technique of Filling Canals With Plasticized Gutta-Percha

    Learning Objectives:

    At the conclusion of the presentation, participants should be able to:

    • Enhance armamentarium with a technique which allows preparing and filling canals in which cones cannot be fit.
    • Describe how to control heat plasticized gutta-percha and accomplish 3-D fills more rapidly than fitting a cone.

    This course consists of preparing the root canal system to allow total 3-D filling of the canal system with plasticized gutta-percha without cones. Proper canal instrumentation is emphasized to control condensation of the plasticized filling material and allow for canal system irregularities such as accessory canals, fins and inter-canal communications.
