Kevin M. Keating, D.D.S., M.S.

Biography

Dr. Keating is a graduate of the Loyola University School of Dentistry and received advanced training in endodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He is a professor at the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry, where he has been teaching part-time for more than 30 years. Dr. Keating is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and maintains a private practice in Sacramento, Calif.

    At conclusion, participants should be able to:

    • Describe the various origins of pain that can create toothache-like pain.

    There are many sources of pain that can mimic tooth pain. Many of these pains will be confused with endodontic pains. These pains and the differential diagnosis involved will be discussed so that the appropriate diagnosis can be made. The characteristics of pain will be evaluated using a system that was first described in the text of Weldon Bell.
