AAE Supports Student Loan Relief in D.C.
The AAE recently joined the ADA and 14 other dental organizations that participate in the Organized Dentistry Coalition (ODC), in a letter supporting the recently introduced Student Loan Refinancing and Recalculation Act. Among other things, the proposed legislation would delay student loan interest rate for low- and middle-income borrowers while they are in school and allow borrowers in dental residencies to defer payment until completion of their programs. The Act was introduced in a bipartisan spirit by Reps. John Garamendi (D-Calif.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.).
The Organized Dentistry Coalition is an important component of AAE’s advocacy efforts. Through the ODC, the AAE works with the dental specialties, ADA, AGD and other dental associations to ensure that dentistry has a strong unified voice in Washington.
