AAE24 Awaits

It seems like AAE23 in Chicago was just last week, yet nine months have passed since that memorable meeting. AAE24 in Los Angeles is just a few short months away. Registrations are very strong, so this meeting could another one for the record books!

Members who haven’t served on Annual Session Planning Committee (AMPC) may not realize how much advanced planning goes into our annual meetings. The sites are selected approximately seven years in advance. We were on site in LA in December of 2022 to view venues for social events and appoint organizers for the various educational tracks. In January 2023, the AMPC met in Chicago with the track organizers to discuss the priorities of the individual educational tracks. The track organizers then reach out to invited speakers in order to gauge their interest in participating. AMPC met again in Chicago in June 2023 to fit the invited presentations and the selected submitted presentations into the scheduling grid. This is a huge task that takes time and maneuvering to accomplish. We are most fortunate to have Assistant Executive Director Tanya Kinsman and the rest of our talented AAE Meetings Team to work with.

One fun aspect of this June meeting was watching videos of various prospective talent for keynote speaker for the opening General Session. You won’t want to miss our selected keynote speaker, Sekou Andrews – you will be amazed!

AAE24 offers four days of outstanding scientific presentations and hands-on workshops spanning six educational tracks. It is your best resource for endodontic-specific continuing education.

The annual special events are also always highly anticipated. From the General Assembly, to the President’s Breakfast where yours truly will give an address, to the Edgar D. Coolidge Awards brunch on Saturday morning, we’ll be carrying on the traditions that are so distinctly AAE.

And while you’re in town, why not take the opportunity to see some local sights?

Another great marvel of the annual meeting is the expansive exhibit hall. You are about to receive the 2024 AAE Corporate Close Up, which previews featured exhibitors coming to Los Angeles. The exhibit floor will be open Wednesday – Friday, and I encourage all to visit and see the latest innovations in technology, devices, materials, and services.

I also encourage all members to attend their District Caucus on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. It is an opportunity to get involved in the governance of the AAE or of your local affiliate organization.

AAE24 offers endless opportunities for networking. For individuals looking for practice opportunities or practices and groups looking for associates, the Career Fair will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

A popular feature of our annual meetings are the many social events and AAE24 will not disappoint.  This year’s Celebrate event will be held at Universal Studios and promises to be a memorable evening!

I want to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers on the AMPC:  General Chair of AAE24, Dr. Keith Krell; Dr. Kimberly Lindquist, Program Chair; Dr. Mark Desrosiers, Vice Program Chair; Dr. Antonio Berto and Dr. Mary Um, Co-Workshop Chairs, and Dr. Garry Myers, Immediate past Program Chair. The Track Organizers for AAE24, who worked so hard to identify and recruit speakers include Dr. Kenneth Tittle, Future of Endodontics Track; Dr. Lorel Burns and Dr. Dontra Scott, New Voices Track; Dr. Carla Falcon, Non-Surgical Root Canal Track; Dr. Omar Abusteit, Outcomes Track; Dr. Tatiana Botero-Duque and Dr. Kathleen Gaboardi, Pulp Biology Track; and Dr. Yasaman Ravandoust and Dr. Ahmad Salman, Surgical Root Canal Track.

I hope you all can join me at AAE24, April 17 – 20 in Los Angeles. Register today at aae.org/aae24.
