Dr. Samuel O. Dorn Elected to Position of President-Elect of Asian-Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC)
AAE Past President Dr. Sam Dorn was elected to the position of President-elect of the Asian-Pacific Endodontic Confederation (APEC), making him the first American elected to that position. Dr. Dorn served as President of the AAE in 2002-2003. He also has led the Florida Association of Endodontists and the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA).
He has served in many AAE positions, including Director of the American Board of Endodontics and Trustee of the AAE Foundation. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and was the President of the Florida Chapter from 2000 to 2002. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Dorn has received numerous awards, including the 2013 Coolidge Award for lifetime achievement, the highest award presented by the AAE.
Dr. Samuel Dorn is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Endodontics at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He was an endowed Professor, Chair and the Director of Graduate Endodontics at the University of Texas at Houston. He taught at the University of Florida from 1992 until 1997 when he became the Director of Postgraduate Endodontics and Co-Chair at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale.
Dr. Dorn has lectured extensively throughout the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America. He has authored many articles and textbook chapters including the chapter on Emergency Treatment in the 11th edition of Pathways of the Pulp.
Dr. Samuel Dorn will be inducted as President for a two-year term at the 22nd APEC Congress that will take place on September 9-11, 2023, in Taipei, Taiwan.
